Former champions, Kamaru Usman and Rose Namajunas proved victorious atop the UFC Atlanta fight card last weekend on ESPN, thanks to their respective victories over rising contenders Joaquin Buckley and Miranda Maverick, respectively.
Both “The Nigerian Nightmare” and “Thug” were already ranked above “New Mansa” and “Fear The,” so their winning performances didn’t earn them higher spots in the official UFC rankings, recently updated to reflect the results of UFC Atlanta.
In the Welterweight class, while Jack della Maddalena is the reigning champion, Usman rose to number 5 behind Belal Muhammed, Sean Brady, Shavkat Rakhmonov and Leon Edwards while Israel Adesanya is now 4th in the Middleweight class behind Nassourdine Imavov, Sean Strickland and Khamzat Chimaev with Dricus Du Plessis the champion.
However, the rankings are expected to change around this time next week.
