Barrister Emeka Nwala has emerged as the Chairman elect of the 10th National Assembly Legislative Aides Forum, NASSLAF after securing 29 votes to beat his opponent, Afeez who polled 19 votes.
At the conclusion of the keenly contested election held at the Senate New Building on Friday , Nwala who currently serves as the Chief of Staff to the Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu was declared winner by the Electoral Committee (ELECOM) Chairman Abass Imam.
Following his declaration Nwala who holds over 20 years experience in the Legislative arm of government will preside over 9000 Legislative Aides drawn from the Senate and House of Representatives, including the Chief of Staffs to the Senate President and Speaker, Deputies, Principal officers and Aides of Lawmakers of both Chambers.
In his brief acceptance speech, Emeka Nwala thanked the Central Working Committee for voting massively for him to emerge winner and appreciated the Electoral Committee as well as other stakeholders for seeing to a free, fair and credible election.
He reiterated his commitment to the welfare of all Aides and called on his co-contestant to join him in moving NASSLAF forward.
In a similar development, Hon. Ishaq Baba Sale and Dr. Raji emerged as Vice Chairman elect and Secretary elect, unopposed as Affan Sani and Ladi Haruna beat their opponents to emerge Treasurer and Welfare Officer, respectively.
Also, Mrs. Mendy Seomber, Hajiya Aisha Musa and Mr. Jimy Akanimo all emerged Assistant Secretary, Assistant Financial Secretary and PRO 1 without any opposition.
The position of PRO 2 was won by Simon Abang who defeated Adeyemi Shola Esther while Edozie Bennett emerged as Legal Officer 2 unopposed.
