The wife of the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Mrs Kafayat Oyetola, has mobilised a local canvassers’ group, Akobi Obinrin, with a target strength of 10,000 women to support the APC governorship candidate, Bola Munirudeen Oyebamiji (AMBO), ahead of the August 15 election in Osun State.
The canvassers, led by Mrs Oyetola, the wives of AMBO and his deputy, Alhaja Sekinat Oyebamiji and Princess Adebukola Adereti, Chairperson of the Federal Character Commission, Hon. Ayo Omidiran, House of Representatives candidate, Hon. Taiwo Oluga, among others, converged at Nelson Mandela Freedom Park, Osogbo, on Saturday.
They marched 4.5 kilometres, moving through MDS, Station Road, Fagbewesa, Ola-Iya and Aregbe, before ending at the Tinubu/Shettima campaign office in Ogo-Oluwa, Osogbo. The walk was joined by AMBO, his deputy, Kayode Adereti, Engr Olalekan Badmus, former commissioner Adebayo Adeleke, and other supporters.
Mrs Oyetola explained that Akobi Obinrin was originally created for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election effort, but that the solidarity walk was organised to mobilise grassroots support for AMBO.

She said the group has 62 local government coordinators and assistant coordinators across 3,763 polling units, women opinion leaders at the grassroots, and a total of 10,000 canvassers working for AMBO.
According to her, the canvassers will focus on voter education, particularly on how to vote for the APC without voiding or wasting votes.
Alhaja Sekinat said the initiative would encourage women to vote for AMBO in 2026 while carrying the same momentum into Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign.
AMBO praised the women and described the solidarity march as “Walk to win.” He urged women to come out en masse to vote, arguing that it would restore what he described as the state’s “lost glory”, especially in sectors he said have decayed under the current administration.
