Public primary and secondary schools across Kaduna State have been abruptly shut down following alleged security threats issued by armed bandits, multiple unofficial sources confirmed in confidence.
Although the state government has yet to release an official statement explaining the sudden closure, teachers and administrators told our correspondent that several schools reportedly received written threat letters from bandits, prompting urgent directives to end academic activities for the term.
A senior teacher in one of the affected schools, who asked not to be named for security reasons, said the development forced schools to drastically shorten their academic calendar.
“We were supposed to start the first-term examination on Wednesday, November 26, and finish the following Wednesday.
“But we had to rush everything within four days. The school was originally scheduled to close officially for the term on December 11, 2025,” the source revealed.

The unexpected shutdown has left many parents, teachers, and students confused as no formal announcement or explanation has been issued by the Ministry of Education or security agencies.
Some teachers told our correspondent that the hurried examinations and closure were precautionary measures taken to protect pupils and staff amid fears of possible attacks.
The development comes at a time of renewed concerns over school safety in northern Nigeria, where kidnapping-for-ransom and attacks on educational institutions have remained a persistent challenge.
Parents and education stakeholders are now calling on the state government to address the situation urgently and provide clarity on security measures being implemented to safeguard schools, in addition to the declaration of emergency in the security sector by President Bola Tinubu.
