The Kaduna State Police Command has arraigned 17 additional suspects in connection with the gruesome mob killing of a woman in Maraban Jos, area of Kaduna as investigations into the incident continue.
In a statement issued on Friday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, the Command disclosed that the suspects were arraigned before a competent court on June 25, 2026.
The police also revealed that following the conclusion of preliminary investigations, 33 other suspects have been charged with criminal conspiracy and unlawful assembly over their alleged involvement in the incident.
However, the Command said 30 persons earlier arrested in connection with the case were found not to have participated in the crime and have been released unconditionally.
According to the statement, investigations are still ongoing, with efforts being intensified to identify and apprehend all individuals who directly participated in or aided the commission of the crime.
“The Command is intensifying efforts to identify and apprehend all individuals who participated in, or aided, the commission of this heinous crime. Every person found culpable will be brought to justice,” the statement said.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Muhammad Rabiu, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to securing justice for the victim and maintaining law and order across Kaduna State.
He urged residents to remain calm, law-abiding, and continue providing credible information to the police to support the ongoing investigation.
