A commercial driver of a Golf brand of vehicle on Monday in Kaduna killed 10 passengers while trying to escape a road block mounted by men of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
According to an eyewitness account, the Commercial driver rammed into a moving Trailer, just as the Trailer fell by the roadside, trying to dodge the speeding Golf.
It was believed that the accident happened at about 6 a.m in Gonin-Gora axis of Kaduna-Abuja highway when the two vehicles were coming from Abuja side into Kaduna.
“It is a terrible accident, and ten passengers died on the spot. The driver of the Golf was trying to escape from NDLEA roadblock, and as the men of the Agency were pursuing him, he rammed into a moving Trailer which also was trying to dodge the Golf. The Trailer fell by the roadside. Some passengers died in the Trailer and others in the Golf”.
It was yet to be ascertained at the time of this report if the two drivers survived the accident.
Earlier, our Correspondent listened to the announcement of the accident by a popular radio programme, “Oga Driver”, in Kaduna city.
However, there was no official statement by security and other relevant agencies concerning the accident as at the time of filling this report.
