From Sola Ojo, Kaduna

The Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Kaduna State, Mr Hassan Mahmud Taura, has warned Corps members serving in the state against drug use, drug abuse, and cyber crimes to avoid tarnishing their image, their families and that of the scheme.

Taura gave the warning shortly before he disclosed the 2023 batch ‘C’ (stream II) orientation course at the NYSC temporary orientation camp, Government College, Kurmi Marshi Kaduna, closed.

He also told the newly inducted members of the national service to immediately report and settle down in their respective places of primary assignments for the one-year mandatory national service.

“My dear Corps members, I am pleased to acknowledge your contribution to the smooth administration of the orientation camp by offering to serve in the various committees set up to run the orientation course. I therefore thank you for the discipline and commitment you have exhibited throughout the exercise.

“Similarly, You must not travel outside Kaduna State without permission from the NYSC management. The idea is to discourage you as much as possible from exposing yourselves to the dangers of our roads.

“Let me strongly warn you to desist from drug abuse, cyber-crime, abuse of social media, and any act capable of endangering your lives and denting the image of yourselves, your parents, and the NYSC,” the coordinator warned.

He however thanked corporate organisations and camp officials for their respective rules in making the orientation course for over 1,000 young Nigerian graduates a success.
