Kaduna: 12 reportedly killed in weekend attacks on communities

Following  gunmen’s invasion of Bauda community, Maro Ward in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State on

Sunday, August 11, 2024,  eight bodies have been recovered  from bushes in nearby Chibiya community.

That brought the total number of locales, who lost their lives during the attack to nine, including a grandma earlier identified as Binta Malam Danladi, who was killed while trying to protect her grandson.

Though the relevant agencies of government are yet to comment on the development, sources in the community,  said that the recovered eight bodies were different from 13 others who were missing after the attack.

“It is with great distress that we report a series of coordinated attacks on multiple communities within our region, leading to significant loss and heightened insecurity.

“Late in the night of August 10, 2024, around 11:00 pm, a large group of armed bandits struck at Ungwan Luka in Afogo, abducting twenty-three individuals: Hassan Danbaki: Lovina Danbaki, Asama’u Hassan, Solomon Magaji, Asabar Hananiya, Peace Hananiya, Rebeccah Amos, Elizabeth Amos  and Faith Amos

Others are: Arubuta Amos, Gloria Yusuf, Jonathan Yusuf, Bishop Yusuf , Mary Ibrahim, Dennis Elisha, Iko Maigarma, Mula Ibrahim, Ladan Ibrahim, Queen Dennis, Rejoice Hassan, Eunice Titus, Tabitha Titus, and Safiya Ibrahim .

“Also on Sunday, August 11, 2024, Bauda community, located in Maro Ward, Kajuru LGA, came under a brutal attack around 6:00 am while residents were preparing for worship.

“In another alarming incident, Libere community was assaulted around 4:45 am on Sunday,August 11, 2024. The assailants took the life of Mal Indi Musa.

“The bandits responsible for terrorising our communities, including Libere, Gefe, Kallah, Afogo, Kurmin Idon, and Doka, have established a camp about three kilometers from Sabon Garin Afogo.

“This camp, located at the former settlement of Alhaji Baban Goza in Agwallah Santa, has become a stronghold after the previous resident was forcefully displaced by the criminals.

“The situation is escalating rapidly, with residents being compelled to vacate their homes due to the persistent threat.     Immediate and decisive action is required to dismantle this camp before the situation deteriorates further.

“We urgently call on all relevant authorities, security agencies, and individuals to intervene and help bring an end to these relentless attacks.

“ Our people are in desperate need of protection and peace”, one of the sources posted.
