Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai on Tuesday charged the corps members deployed to the state by the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to add value to themselves during the one-year national service.
El-Rufai, who spoke through his deputy, Dr Hadiza Balarabe, at the official closing of the 2022 batch ‘B’ (stream II) orientation course held at the NYSC temporary camp, Government College, Kurmi Mashi, Kaduna, also asked the corps members to take their host communities as their homes and see to their development as much as they can while in the state.
“Dear compatriots, let me remind you once more that the major objective of the NYSC is to foster unity and integration among the diverse ethnic nationalities of our great country through the youths,” he stated.

“I, therefore, urge you to pursue the realization of this goal in practical terms by taking your host community as your home and joining in contributing to its development.
“Let me also reiterate that the Kaduna State Government will continue to give the scheme maximum support towards the attainment of its objectives.
“In this regard, I want to assure you that Government will do its best to provide a conducive environment for you to carry out your assignment.
“Dear compatriots, apart from providing the platform to offer service to your country, the service year is also a period for you to add value to yourselves and be change agents.
“Therefore, you must endeavour to utilize the opportunity which the NYSC has provided through the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurial training, to improve your lives.”
Earlier, the Director-General of the NYSC, Brigadier General MK Fadah, whose address was read by the coordinator of the scheme in the State, Mr Abel Odoba Oche, urged the corps members to accept their posting in good faith.
“I would like to remind you of your oath of allegiance in which you pledged to accept posting in good faith.
“I enjoin you to perform your duties with diligence and be guided by the provisions of the NYSC Act and bye-laws as well as workplace rules and regulations,” he added.
