Obaro of Kabba, Oba Dele Owoniyi, has called on indigenes at home and in the diaspora to return home for Kabba Day 2026, as the community targets N500 million for critical development projects.
The fund, to be formally launched at the grand finale of the celebration on November 7, is expected to support development initiatives within the community.
This year’s celebration, themed, “Consolidating Peace and Strategically Mobilising Resources for Sustainable Development in Kabba,” is aimed at strengthening unity and mobilising resources for the development of the ancient town.
Oba Owoniyi said Kabba’s development depended largely on the ability of its people to work together irrespective of where they reside.
“Our strength has always been our unity. When Kabba speaks with one voice, development follows.
“I invite every son and daughter of this land, wherever you are, to come home and be part of this moment,” the monarch said.
Activities for Kabba Day will begin with a Gala Night on Friday, November 6, at 5 p.m., bringing together indigenes, investors, public officials and friends of the community.

The grand finale will hold on Saturday, November 7, at 10 a.m. at the Kabba Township Stadium, featuring cultural displays, masquerades, traditional drumming, dances and other aspects of Kabba culture.
A major highlight will be the launch of the Kabba Development Fund, with a target of N500 million.
Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, Dr Olorunmowaju Magnus Oluwafemi, said the celebration was being used to move discussions about the community’s potential towards concrete investment and development.
“We have talked about Kabba’s potential for a long time. This year, we want every son and daughter to come home not only to celebrate, but to invest in the Kabba they want to see,” he said.
Oluwafemi said Kabba Day was also an opportunity for the people to assess the community’s progress, honour those who had contributed to its development and agree on future priorities.
“Kabba Day is more than a homecoming. It is a chance to take stock of how far the community has come, honour those who have served it, and agree on where it goes next.
“Our culture is our strength, our unity is our future,” he said.
The Kabba Development Union (KDU) invited members of the public, corporate organisations, the media and friends of the community to participate in and support the celebration.
