Despite the apparent delay in the approval of the modified Electoral Act currently before the National Assembly, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has assured that it is prepared for the 2027 general election.

As a result, the Commission announced that it had completed work on the election schedule and activities.

Prof. Joash Amupitan, Chairman of INEC, made the announcement on Wednesday in Abuja during a meeting with Civil Society Organisations (CSOs).

While acknowledging that INEC has submitted presentations to the National Assembly, Amupitan admitted that some items on the timetable of operations may be influenced by the time lawmakers enact the electoral act.
