Julius Berger Nigeria Plc has won the 2026 Business Times Real Estate and Construction Excellence Award for its sustained contribution to Nigeria’s infrastructure development.
The award was presented at the Business Times Awards ceremony held in Lagos on Thursday, where the construction company was recognised for its leadership, innovation, technical excellence and impact on national development.
Chairman of the Editorial Board of Business Times, Dada Ajai-Ikhile, said the award reflected Julius Berger’s role in shaping Nigeria’s infrastructure landscape and improving the lives of citizens.
“This recognition is a monumental achievement and a testament to Julius Berger’s consistency, leadership and the significant impact of its work on the lives of citizens across the country,” he said.
Receiving the award on behalf of the company, Director, Administration, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, Dr Abdulaziz Isa Kaita, described the recognition as both an honour and a responsibility.
“For more than five decades, Julius Berger has been privileged to contribute to Nigeria’s development. Across different regions of the country, we have delivered some of Nigeria’s most important and technically challenging infrastructure projects,” Kaita said.
He said the company’s projects reflected its commitment to quality, innovation, safety, sustainability and reliability.
According to him, Julius Berger’s role goes beyond constructing roads, bridges and buildings, as its projects are designed to support economic activity, connect communities and improve the quality of life.
“For Julius Berger, excellence is not simply about constructing roads, bridges and buildings. It is about building infrastructure that enables economic growth, connects communities, creates opportunities and improves lives,” he said.
Kaita said the award would encourage the company to raise its standards further, particularly as Nigeria seeks to expand infrastructure and strengthen economic growth.
“This award is both an honour and a challenge. It challenges us to do more, innovate further and continuously raise the bar of construction excellence in Nigeria,” he said.
He also stressed the need for greater investment in technology, local content and human capital to strengthen Nigeria’s construction industry.
Kaita said Julius Berger would continue to invest in its workforce, expand its technical capabilities and deploy innovative solutions to deliver infrastructure that meets international standards while addressing Nigeria’s development needs.
He dedicated the award to the company’s engineers, technicians, artisans, project teams, administrative personnel and other staff, whose work, he said, had sustained Julius Berger’s reputation in the Nigerian construction industry.
He also thanked the company’s clients, business partners, host communities and government stakeholders for their support and collaboration in delivering projects across the country.
The award was received by Kaita on behalf of Julius Berger. Other members of the company’s team at the ceremony included Senior Engineer, Civil, Engr. Sena Syrethe Daramola, Manager, Media Relations, Osedebamen Isibor, and Jeffery Ibeh.
