Former Kaduna Central senator, Shehu Sani has mourned the demise of former Minister of Education, Prof. Jubril Aminu.
Daily Sun learnt that Aminu died aged 85 years in Abuja on Thursday after a prolonged illness.
His funeral prayer is scheduled for 2.00 pm at Abuja National Mosque.
In an X post, Sani paid tributes to the late Aminu, saying Nigeria “lost one of its greatest Intellectuals and visionary leaders”.
He recounted how Aminu constructed the Eleme Refinery and most of the petroleum depots in the country when he was Petroleum Minister and also decentralised and reformed the NNPC.
Sani added, “Since he left office, none has been added. As education minister,he established the Nomadic Education Commision and established the School for the Gifted Children among other reforms in education.
“He served as the VC of Unimaid and headed the NUC in the 70s.
“He represented Adamawa in the Senate twice. He was the best medical student at the UCH Ibadan in the 60s, a rare feat for a northerner at that time.
“The nation has lost one of its greatest Intellectuals and visionary leaders.”
