Jubilation in Rivers community as council of chiefs receives monarch

There was jubilation in Okporomini/Ogba community in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State following the admission of Joel Aka Ishikaku into the council of chiefs at Erema town of the community.

His admission into the revered traditional rulers council is expected to strengthen the already enduring peace in the entire community which in turn would increase business activities in the area thereby enhancing economic development of the entire local government.

Traditional Head of the Ahiahu area, Ikeagwu Akokwu, Eze Ahiahu II of Egi land, expressed happiness over the admission of the Uzor Ogwe I into his council and thanked the people of Okporomini/Ogba community for appointing one of their sons into the council, describing him as a man of vision and foresight with the capacity to lift the area to greater heights, economically and otherwise.

He admonished the newly admitted monarch to discharge his duty without fear or favour, stressing that since his position as Uzor Ogwe signified clearing any difficulty on the way for his people to reach the promise land, warned that any case he handles should be “just, fair and without any form of bias to the people concern.”

The traditional head, however, advised the people to co-operate with the newly admitted Eze for the smooth operation of his duty to move the area forward and improve on the economic wellbeing of the community.

Ishikaku pledged loyalty to Ahiahu II of Egiland and promised to do all within his power to support the area in any way necessary and discharge any function assigned to him with dignity, adding that he will co-operate with every legally recognised group in the community.

“I want to thank God for this great honour. I want to assure you that I will discharge my responsibility as the father of my people with the fear of God. I will be fair in any matter that comes to my attention and justice will always be dispensed diligently.

“I, therefore, appeal to everyone to cooperate with me so that, together, we can take our community and local government and, by extension, our beloved Rivers State to an enviable heights,” he said.

In their good will messages, some of the council members, including the palace secretary, Georgewill Simon, expressed happiness on the importance of the occasion and advised the Uzor Ogwe I to be opened-minded and work closely with the people as the surest way of succeeding in his new responsibility.
