Jubilation as Borno holds first NYSC orientation exercise in 12 yrs

The National Youths Service Corp (NYSC) orientation exercise has resumed in Borno 12 years after its suspension due to insecurity.

NYSC State Coordinator, Mohammed Adamu Jiya said the return of the youth service to the state after over a decade of security challenge caused by Boko Haram insurgency was a relief

Borno orientation camp was relocated to Katsina State in 2012.  “Today we are conducting the swearing in  of1,125 registered corp members for the 2023 Batch B Stream 1 National Yoith Service Corp (NYSC) orientation exercise.

He commended the governor for facilitating the return of the NYSC Orientation Camp to Borno. He also lauded the support of the military, police and other security agencies for ensuring safety at the camp.

The coordinator appealed to the state government to help fast-track the rehabilitation of the permanent NYSC camp in Maiduguri.

Governor Babagana Zulum said he was pleased to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the corp members. He said the exercise could not hold for about 13 years due to insurgency.

The governor urged the corp members to see their posting to Borno as an opportunity to integrate, learn history and cultural heritage of the people.

He thanked the security agencies for working tirelessly to ensure relative peace return to the state which brought resumption of the scheme orientation exercise and service year.
