Anthony Joshua has what it takes to stop Tyson Fury if the two heavyweights finally meet, according to Fury’s uncle and former trainer, Peter Fury.
Speaking on the Fight Your Corner podcast in partnership with Midnite, Peter said he could see the fight going one of two ways: Fury using his boxing skills to outpoint Joshua, or Joshua catching Fury with the right shot and ending the contest by knockout.
“I have not really thought about it, to be honest. He (Fury) is either going to outbox (him) and he will get to Joshua or Joshua is going to find the target and he will clean him out. So, it is one or the other, is it not? So, we will see which one,” he said.
Peter believes the tactics both fighters bring into the ring could ultimately determine who comes out on top.
“I think it all comes down to what game plans they are going to do,” he added.
Talk of a Fury-Joshua showdown has continued for years, but negotiations have yet to produce an official fight announcement.
The latest push came after both boxers won their respective bouts in July. Fury defeated Mariusz Wach, while Joshua stopped Kristian Prenga.
However, plans for the proposed all-British clash reportedly hit a setback over the venue. New York City was among the locations being considered, despite Joshua having an agreement for a fight in the United Kingdom.
Recent reports suggest the negotiations have picked up again, with Cardiff, Wales, now being mentioned as a possible venue for a December meeting.
Neither fighter’s camp has officially confirmed the date or location.
There are also questions over the timing of the event if it is broadcast on Netflix, particularly whether the main fight would be held late enough to accommodate viewers in the United States.
For now, fans are still waiting for the final confirmation of what could become one of the most talked-about heavyweight fights of 2026.
