President Bola Tinubu has summoned Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, to Abuja for urgent talks following the recent killings in Jos.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, disclosed this during a press briefing on Tuesday, where he also conveyed the President’s condolences to victims and their families.

Idris said security agencies responded swiftly to the attack, with troops under Operation Enduring Peace mobilised immediately after distress calls from the area.

According to him, “The military and other security agencies cordoned off the affected area, secured key access routes, and launched targeted search-and-clearance operations to track down the perpetrators.”

He added that the rapid response helped contain the situation and prevented further escalation, noting that reinforced troop deployments and surveillance have now been introduced across vulnerable communities.

The minister revealed that Tinubu had earlier met with top security and intelligence chiefs, after which the Plateau governor was invited to Abuja to “chart a coordinated path towards lasting peace and security.”

While acknowledging the severity of the incident, Idris insisted it does not signal a collapse of national security, stressing that those responsible would be tracked down and brought to justice, as authorities intensify efforts to restore calm in the state.
