Former President Goodluck Jonathan, and the Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, have rallied support for tourism in Bayelsa State. The duo, who spoke at the official launch of Best Western Plus in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, commended Arc Harcourt Adukeh for siting the project in Yenagoa.

Jonathan, who lamented the dearth of quality hotels in Yenagoa, expressed disappointment that successive administrations in the state did not pursue the construction of the state-owned hotels initiated by his administration.

According to him, a state government investing in tourism is always a positive development because of the ripple effect on the local economy.

He noted that “the idea of a state encouraging tourism is for tourists to spend their money in the state to stimulate the local economy.” Diri, while expressing joy that the project was started and completed in his tenure as governor, said his government had created an enabling environment for business to grow. He commended Adukeh, a son of the soil, for investing in the state and called on Bayelsa elders, leaders, and entrepreneurs to come in and contribute their quota by investing in the state, describing the facility as a one-stop tourist centre that is of world-class standard.

Initeme Adukeh-Eromhonsele, Executive Director of Best Western Plus Yenagoa, was upbeat about the services to be provided for visitors at the hotel.

“Best Western Plus Yenagoa is not just a hotel. It is a destination where the beauty of Oxbow Lake meets international standards of hospitality. We are excited to create an experience that combines excellence, comfort, and the warmth of Bayelsa.”
