In a heartfelt tribute shared on his official X handle @GEJonathan, former President Goodluck Jonathan expressed profound sorrow over the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari at the age of 82.

Jonathan described Buhari as “a courageous leader, a disciplined officer, and a committed public servant who made considerable contributions towards the peace and progress of our dear nation.”

Jonathan recalled Buhari’s distinguished service to Nigeria, both as a military Head of State and later as a democratically elected President. He praised Buhari’s patriotism, integrity, and selfless dedication to the country, highlighting the respect he commanded across all levels of society.

“Nigeria has lost one of its foremost leaders, and I have lost a respected colleague and elder,” Jonathan wrote. He stressed that Buhari’s legacy of sacrifice, perseverance, and devotion to national ethos will continue to inspire Nigerians.

On behalf of his family and the Goodluck Jonathan Foundation, the former president extended condolences to Buhari’s immediate family, the people of Katsina State, and all Nigerians mourning the loss.

Jonathan concluded his tribute with a prayer, asking Allah to forgive Buhari’s shortcomings, accept his good deeds, and grant him Jannatul Firdaus.
