Ahead of the FCT area councils election in 2026, the Minister of State for Special Duties, Hon. Zaphaniah Jizalo, has boasted that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken over the political space of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Jizalo said this effort is to ensure that the good work the ruling party is doing continues as it is ready to surpass the 25% constitutional requirement during the presidential election.
Hon. Jizalo, who made the remark during an official welcome ceremony organised to welcome former FCT PDP decampees into the ruling party, highlighted that the party is working in line with the aspiration of the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Recall that former PDP chieftain Hon. Abraham Ajiya led other strong members including Hon. Emma Daniel Asiri, Hon. Hagai Kaka, and Hon. Isaiah Kaura into joining the ruling APC citing internal crises.
The Minister, who was represented during the ceremony by Hon. Shuaibu Abdumumuni Karu, expressed his resolve to ensure that the ruling APC wins the six area councils that make up the capital city of Nigeria.

Speaking while welcoming the new members, the FCT Chairman of APC, Alhaji Abdul Maki Usman, who was represented by Jamie Yusuf, SA to former President Buhari, noted that the party is actually putting all machineries in place to ensure that the 2026 election is won without hitches.
Leader of the decampees Hon. Abraham Ajiya recapped that the APC’s leadership style has repositioned the Federal Capital Territory. “Like I said before dumping the PDP, the combined efforts of the Minister of FCT and the Chairman of AMAC Mr. Mike Maikalangu has actually transformed the city.
“APC is a place where everyone has a seat. It is where I think my voice will be heard and my ideas considered. We all have seen what they are doing. It is a testament to a coordinated leadership of the party.
“Take a look at the road projects, hospitals, education system and other infrastructure. The city is really transformed under the party.”
Another defecting member, Hon. Emma Daniel Asiri, emphasised that peace within the ruling party will ensure developmental stability and economic growth. He further enjoined other remnants of the PDP in the FCT to quickly join the winning team.
