House of Representatives member Abdulmumin Jibrin has formally announced his exit from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

In a statement on Monday, Jibrin announced his defection to the All Progressives Congress and declared his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.

The legislator, who represents Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency of Kano State, disclosed that his defection was well received by his constituency, adding that he received a warm reception from thousands of his supporters in his hometown, Kofa in Bebeji LGA, following the development.

The former Director-General of the Tinubu Support Group said the attendees unanimously decided to abandon the NNPP/Kwankwasiyya Movement and join the APC to support the President’s re-election bid.

According to him, nearly 2,000 Islamic clerics also offered special prayers for President Tinubu, peace, progress, and the development in Kiru/Bebeji, Kano State, and Nigeria at large.

Daily Sun reports that Jibrin’s exit from the NNPP will further compound the woes of the party, which has suffered similar reversals of fortunes in recent times.
