According to DataReportal’s 2021 annual Global Digital Growth report, social media platforms count over 4.2 billion active users. Given that the typical user now spends 2 hours and 25 minutes on social media each day, it’s easy to see that the world’s social media users will spend a total of 3.7 trillion hours on social media in 2021, equivalent to more than 420 million years of combined.

In this vast sea of digital content, it’s not easy to get, and especially stay, on the top — something that Jerusha Couture experiences every day. “Being successful takes a lot of hard work and planning. You need to wake up every day with all your responsibilities already pre-planned,” says Jerusha.

Jerusha Couture is an Australian fashion designer and renowned luxury fashion blogger. She runs the self-titled fashion label Jerusha Couture™. On top of that, Jerusha is a well-liked social media star and influencer that has over 400,000 loyal fans and followers across platforms. Her rise in popularity began in 2010 when she began to share her daily life with others on YouTube. Twelve years later, Jerusha still actively shares her life, as well as hot insights and fresh commentaries on trending topics from the fashion industry.

With so much experience under her belt, she knows a thing or two about success. As Jerusha Couture points out, one of the main challenges she had to overcome on her rise to stardom was consistency. “I believe that being consistent was difficult. At the time, many of the most popular YouTubers had extremely strategic upload schedules, and you had to compete with that,” says Jerusha Couture. “Today is the same. You need to be consistent because people will take more interest in you if you regularly appear on their screens. Younger YouTubers have to adjust to this, and once they become consistent with their uploading and creation, their fans and subscribers will have something solid to follow.”

However, Jerusha Couture also points out that with all the strategic planning and thinking that goes around in their heads, new creators must remember that in the end, they are valued for their creativity and ability to produce good content. “Your creativity is what makes you relatable; That’s what will attract the fans and followers,” says Jerusha. “If you want to swim up top and stay afloat, you need to really make those brain wheels turning and churning. And one more thing you must never forget is to be genuine because that’s what will keep those fans and followers to stay.”
