Jake Paul dropped from WBA rankings

Jake Paul has been dropped from the World Boxing Association (WBA) cruiserweight rankings following his most recent defeat.

Paul previously held the No. 14 position after his pay-per-view victory over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. last June in Anaheim, a win that placed him in contention for a potential cruiserweight title opportunity. However, the 28-year-old bypassed a possible title path and instead took on a heavyweight bout against Anthony Joshua on Dec. 19 in Miami.

The fight ended in a sixth-round stoppage, with Paul suffering a broken jaw in the loss. In its latest official update, the WBA removed Paul from the cruiserweight rankings entirely. His professional record now stands at 12-2 with seven knockouts.

Australia’s Liam “The Mechanic” Callanan has replaced Paul at No. 14, while Bosnia’s Edin “Iron Puki” Puhalo now rounds out the WBA Top 15. The current WBA cruiserweight champion remains Mexico’s Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez, who also holds the WBO title.

Despite being dropped from the rankings, Paul appears unconcerned by the setback as he considers his next move in the sport.
