Nigeria national football team were forced to settle for a 2-2 draw against Jordan national football team in an ill-tempered friendly encounter in Turkey, with Alex Iwobi dismissed late on.

Goals from Moses Simon and debutant Emmanuel Fernandez appeared to have put Nigeria on course for victory at the Mardan Titanic Sports Complex in Antalya, but the Jordanians fought back to earn a share of the spoils.

Head coach Eric Chelle made several alterations to the side that edged Iran in their previous outing, a decision that unsettled the team early on as Jordan took the lead in the 17th minute through Musa Al-Taamari.

Nigeria responded swiftly, with Simon producing a composed finish to restore parity before the interval, while Fernandez marked his full debut in fine fashion by turning home a cross to hand the Eagles the advantage before the break.

The second half, however, proved more fractious than fluent. Jordan levelled late on, setting the stage for a tense finale.

Tempers eventually boiled over when Iwobi reacted angrily to a foul, charging at his opponent and sparking a brief melee that drew in players from both sides.

Following the altercation, the midfielder was shown a straight red card, bringing a sour end to what had been a competitive but increasingly heated encounter.
