Alex Iwobi has made Premier League history after he became the first Nigerian player to post 299 appearances in the glamorous championship.

His proud father, Chuka Iwobi, posted this new mark on social media, while also adding “your best is still to come”.

The younger Iwobi, 29, reached this milestone when he featured for Fulham Saturday against his former club Arsenal.

He thus surpassed the record set by Shola Ameobi, who played 298 times for Newcastle United.

The other players in this esteemed class are Nwankwo Kanu (273), Yakubu Aiyegbeni (252) and Mikel Obi (248).
