Masters Energy Group has joined the global community in commemorating International Women’s Day (IWD) with the organisation of a seminar tagged “Women of Masters 1.0,” themed “Financial Inclusion: The Role Women Play.”

The event, held on Thursday, March 19, 2026, in Ikeja, Lagos, was aimed at celebrating and recognising the contributions of women within the organisation and society at large, while also educating the younger generation on financial freedom and the development of tech skills.

The programme featured a special initiative, “Women of Masters,” designed to spotlight female employees and their impact within the company. It also provided a platform for participants to share experiences, discuss career growth, examine legal protection for women entrepreneurs, and promote financial independence.

In her opening remarks, the Group Managing Director, Masters Energy Group, Dr. Patience Dappa, noted that March is globally recognised as a month dedicated to celebrating women. She explained that the event was not only for celebration but also an opportunity for reflection and dialogue on advancing financial inclusion for women.

According to her, empowering women is not merely a gender issue but an economic imperative, stressing that when women are empowered, societies are transformed. She added that women, when given access to financial tools, invest in education, healthcare and community development, describing them as multipliers of prosperity and catalysts for generational change.

Dr. Dappa further observed that women continue to shape and lead across institutions within the socio-economic ecosystem. She, however, called on the government to create enabling policies that encourage women’s participation in politics and financial systems, while urging organisations to promote equity and enhance financial literacy among women.

There was also a panel session on tech skills in the evolving digital world, alongside presentations by other speakers who addressed financial freedom through strategic investments, legal protection for women, and effective savings culture.

In her closing remarks, the Executive Director, Finance, Masters Energy Group, Mrs. Ngozi Sabina Ogah, who pointed out that the event, which is the first of its kind, will be held annually, reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to gender equality and inclusion, noting that women remain critical to its growth and success. She emphasised the need to create more opportunities for women, particularly in industries traditionally dominated by men.

As part of activities marking the celebration, participants engaged in interactive sessions, motivational talks and awareness campaigns aimed at promoting equal opportunities and empowering women in the workplace, including in the area of technology.

The event attracted students from ST & Tee School and Motivation Comprehensive College, as well as professionals from various sectors. Guest speakers included Yvonne Ezekiel and the Managing Partner of Olisa Agbakoba Legal, alongside the Managing Director of Olive Monies, Toyin Albert.

International Women’s Day is celebrated annually on March 8 to recognise the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, while advocating gender equality worldwide.

Masters Energy Group’s participation underscores its commitment to corporate social responsibility and continued support for initiatives that advance women’s empowerment in Nigeria.
