•APC vows to win all seats
From Uchenna Inya, Abakaliki
Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has declared that no one is contesting the 2027 governorship election in the state with him.
Chief Ifeanyi Odii of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) will be contesting the position against the governor in the general election.
But Nwifuru said he has no rival for the election because of his performance across the 13 local government areas of the state.
He stated this in Amagu, the ancestral home of Izzi clan in Abakaliki local government area during the clan’s new yam festival grand finale last Saturday.
The governor said, in 2023, he won 10 out of the 13 local government areas of the state and that, in next year’s general election, he will sweep the entire local government areas. He told the people of Izzi clan that they shouldn’t worry about the 2027 governorship election, assuring them that no one has the capacity to take away the governorship position from them which God of equity, justice, and fairness gave them in 2023.
“Go and write down what I am telling you today. In 2023, we won 10 out of the 13 local government areas of the state. In 2027, we will win the entire 13 local governments. This is because we have performed very well. In this state, people are sleeping with their two eyes closed, people are walking freely day and night without security issues.
“Secondly, there is no local government in this state that has not done a two-kilometre road and other life touching projects.
“These local governments have 20km roads constructed by us. In Ebonyi local government, we have done over 100km road projects and these roads are virgin roads, roads that have not been constructed before”, he told the mammoth crowd.
The governor urged the people of the clan to tell anyone from the clan contesting the 2027 election under opposition parties that he said no, that such a person has no right to do so. He declared that All Progressives Congress (APC) will not lose any single position in the general election.
“No single candidate of APC, from the House of Assembly to the top position, will fail an election in Ebonyi State. No single person under the party will lose any election. I will not allow any single candidate of APC to lose electrons, I won’t. Let me say this loud and clear.
“I am the political leader in this state, and I represent my party. They should do their worst! Let me see them, they should do their best because we will win all the elections”, he boasted.
Meanwhile, the APC, yesterday, met with critical stakeholders of the party to strategise for next year’s general election.
The meeting, which was held at the party’s Secretariat in Abakaliki, was attended by National Assembly members, House of Assembly members, Local Government Chairmen, APC LG Chairmen and, indeed, all candidates of the party for the 2027 elections.
The state chairman of the party, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, charged the stakeholders to work in synergy within their various senatorial districts, federal constituencies, and state constituencies, stressing that the party must not lose any of the elective positions to the opposition parties.
Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate and Senator representing Ebonyi North Zone, Peter Nwebonyi, and the member representing Ezza South/Ikwo Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Chinedu Ogah, assured the party leadership of the readiness of all the candidates of the party to close ranks and work together with all relevant stakeholders to ensure a landslide victory for the party.
ALGON Chairman and Executive Chairman of Izzi Local government Area, Mrs. Helen Aduga, pledged the unwavering support for all the local government chairmen in the state for the victory of all the party’s candidates.
She used the occasion to, once again, thank the governor and the party for the privilege given to them to fly the party’s tickets in the recently concluded local government council elections in the state. She promised, on behalf of her colleagues, that they must justify the confidence reposed in them by the governor, the party, and the stakeholders, by working tirelessly for the victory of the party across the state.
