Nigeria’s top ranked table tennis star Aruna Quadri has moved up four places from 25th to 21st in the latest International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF)  world ranking released yesterday.

Quadri amassed 50 points to improve from 2457 to 2507 points and he is the highest ranked African in the latest ranking, displacing Egypt’s Omar Assar who previously occupied the position all through 2017.

Chinese duo of Ma Long and Fan Zhendong finished the year in the top two positions while Dimitrij Ovtcharov climbed to third in the ranking. Timo Boll also climbed one place to end the year in the no.4 spot.

In the women’s category, China’s Zhu Yuling is the world’s no.1 ranked female player. Yuling emerged winner at the recent Uncle Pop 2017 ITTF Women’s World Cup in Markham, Toronto.

Chen Meng is now at no.2 followed by Liu Shiwen in third position. Kasumi Ishikawa is now at no.4 followed by Japanese colleagues Miu Hirano and Mima Ito.
