Nigeria’s women’s table tennis team suffered a disappointing start at the ITTF World Team Championships in London, going down 3–0 to Wales in their opening fixture, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Nigerian side struggled to find rhythm against a composed Welsh team, with both Ajoke Ojomu and Shukurat Aiyelabegan losing their respective matches in straight sets.

Fatimo Bello, however, produced a spirited performance in the third rubber, pushing her opponent to the limit before narrowly losing 3–2 in a closely contested encounter, which ultimately sealed the tie for Wales.

Despite the setback, the team still has an opportunity to recover as the competition progresses, with attention now turning to their remaining group matches where they will aim to get their campaign back on track.
