Item Development Association elects new leaders

Item Development Association (IDA), a socio-cultural community organisation in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State, has elected new executive to run its affairs.

After the affirmative election at Amaokwe Item on August 26, the following emerged for various offices: Onwuka Orji (president general), Ernest Onyeukwu (vice president general), Emeka Davies Eke (secretary general), Iheanyi James Kalu (assistant secretary general), Eke Ogba (treasurer), Friday Igwe Johnson (assistant treasurer), Chibuzo Ogbonnaya (financial secretary), and Agu Joshua Uko (Assistant financial secretary).

Others are Onuoha Ukeh (publicity secretary), Ezinwa Kesandu Uko (branches coordinator), Sophia Ukachukwu (women leader), Lolo Jane Chika Ogbonna (deputy women leader), Godwin Iheke Ndukwe (youth leader), Onyekachi Okorie (deputy youth leader), John Ezuo (provost), Jacob Ulu Uka (deputy provost) and Emmanuel Onyegbula Aja (legal adviser).

Orji, a chartered accountant in Business, is the chief executive officer of a financial consultancy/marketing communication outfit, Rubies Consult Marketing Communication, based in Lagos.

He schooled at the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus, where he obtained both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees.

Onyeukwu is a presbyter in Methodist Church Nigeria and serving chaplain at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Chapel, Umuahia.

A retired permanent secretary and a public service consultant, Onyeukwu studied Agricultural Economics and Extension at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka at Bachelor’s and Master’s degree levels. He also acquired a Diploma in Theology of the Methodist Theological Institute, Umuahia and holds a certificate in Christian Leadership from Haggai Institute of Christian Leadership, Maui Hawaii USA.

Ukeh, a journalist, columnist and author, is the managing director/editor-in-chief, The Sun Publishing Limited, publishers of Daily Sun, Saturday Sun, Sunday Sun and Sporting Sun.

He holds a Master’s degree in Communications Studies from Lagos State University and Higher National Diploma (HND) in Book Publishing from Yaba College of Technology, Lagos.

Ukeh is the author of “The Powers that Be – Thoughts and Reflections on People, Power and Politics;” and co-author of “Inside the Newsroom,” “God’s Field Marshals” and “Democracy of Our Land – The Story of the Fourth Republic.”

Ogba is a general manager with United Bank for Africa Plc. and doubles as a regional head, covering North Central and Abuja.

He schooled at the Panjab University, Chandigarh and Punjabi University, Patiala, all in India, where he obtained BSc Administration and MSc in Defence and Strategic Studies.

Kalu is a health worker with the Nigerian Inter-Faith Action Association and has risen to the position of Social and Behavioural Change Communication and Advocacy manager.

Holder of BSc Economics from the University of Abuja, he is managing and coordinating health programmes in Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Ebonyi and Oyo states.

Jacob Ulu Uka is the founder/chief executive officer of Seamans Agencies Nig. Ltd., a frontline maritime consultancy company based in Aba, Abia State.

He attended National High School and Ngwa High School, both in Aba, where he obtained his WASC and HSC certificates respectively. He also possesses a professional certificate in Maritime Studies.

Ezinwa Kesandu Uko, a senior manager with the Central Bank of Nigeria, is a charter banker in Credit Administration.

He schooled at Abia State University, where he obtained a BSc in Banking and Finance and Nasarawa State University, where he obtained MSc in Business Administration, and has attended several courses in finance management and leadership.

Lolo Ogbonna is a manager with Fedix International (Textiles), Aba.

Current Chairlady, Item Development Association (IDA), Aba Branch, she holds BSc Accountancy from Imo State University, Owerri.

Emmanuel Aja is a seasoned private legal practitioner based in Aba.

An alumnus of Abia State University, Uturu and Nigerian Law School, he is the immediate past secretary general and legal adviser of IDA, Aba branch

Aja is the company secretary of Davubic Energy Development Co. Ltd., a Port Harcourt-based oil and gas company.

Ndukwe is a security consultant and a businessman.

He schooled at LIFE Theological Seminary, Ikorodu, Lagos, National Open University and obtained a BSc.

Joshua Agu Uko holds a bachelor’s degree in Accountancy from Abia State University, Uturu.

He worked briefly with a stockbroking firm before incorporating JUK Global Resources Ltd. with which he trades in stocks via Pinefield Investment Services Ltd. He is also the chief executive officer of JUKBIZ International Company, which deals in textiles and equipment.

Chibuzor Ogbonnaya is a chartered accountant, with HND Accounting from the Federal Polytechnic, Nekede and a Fellowship Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria.

A retired director/deputy accountant general of Abia State, he is currently the managing partner, Chibuzor Ogbonnaya and Co. (Chartered Accountants).

Davies Emeka Eke works with MTN Telecommunication Nigeria Plc. as a regional coordinator, South East with headquarters at Enugu. He holds Advance Diploma, Law and Security Management from the University of Jos; Diploma in Security Management from International Security Management Institute, UK; BA Hons English, University of Lagos (UNILAG); BA. Hons Theology and PGD – Missions (RCCG Bible School), LLB. Hons (RNU- Enugu), Master’s degree in International Law and Diplomacy from UNILAG.

Sophia Omume Ukachukwu is a Lady of the Order of Knight of St John’s International (Catholic faith), and a veteran teacher who rose to the position of head teacher in Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Leadership Academy, Port Harcourt.

She holds the National Certificate in Education (NCE), BSc (PHE), University of Maiduguri and M.Sc (Education Administration) from the University of Port Harcourt.

She is the immediate past national president, Amaokwe Item Welfare Union (Women’s Wing).
