- Passes vote of confidence in former Abia governor

Item community in Bende Local Government Area, Abia State, has expressed delight over the award of a contract for the construction of Umuakpaeme Road by Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, representing Abia North Senatorial District.
Commending Kalu during the community’s mid-term meeting, the President-General, Umuakpaeme Item, Shedrack Okpa Ogbonnaya, appreciated the senator for awarding a contract for the project, describing it as a good development for the community.
He said: “We appreciate it and we pray the good Lord Almighty to continue to bless him. As he remembered Umuakpaeme Item, that God will also remember him.
“We also thank those who are behind him, working with him, to continue their good work.
The President-General gave assurance that as the project progressed, the community will give updates to Senator Kalu till its completion.
“We are very happy and we are very grateful for his work. As his eyes are focused on Umuakpaeme Item community, we say thank you and let God bless him,” he prayed.
Also commending Kalu during the meeting, a Port Harcourt-based Nollywood actor, Chinedu Iheanacho, said the two-kilometre road awarded in Umuakpaeme Item by Senator Kalu was a welcome development.
Another constituent, Ajah Ukaegbu, while hailing Senator Kalu, said the community was happy over the award of the road contract and looking forward to its completion.
Ajah also assured Kalu that the community would stand solidly with him at all times.
Two other constituents, Chief Chima Ikwegbu and Chief Ajah Chukwu, also prayed for Kalu and asked God to bless and protect him for standing behind the community, promising their unalloyed support in the forthcoming elections.
