Renowned Islamic cleric, Sheikh Usman Idris Kusfa, better known as Rigi Rigi, has died aged 57.
BBC Hausa reports that the Zaria-based cleric died Monday while undergoing treatment for an illness at the 44th Military Hospital, Kaduna.
He left behind four wives, 37 children and many grandchildren.
A senior disciple of the cleric, Malam Nasiruddeen Umar, also known as Baharu, confirmed his demise, News Agency of Nigeria reports.
Umar said the cleric had battled an undisclosed ailment for several months.
Sheikh Kusfa was widely known for his Islamic teachings and had gained significant popularity on TikTok and other social media platforms.
Umar stated that the funeral prayer for the deceased cleric is billed to take place in Kusfa, Zaria, at 4:30 pm on Monday.
