Iriji 2025: Eze Igbo Ijegun/ Ijedodo extends help to the needy

… As he honours outstanding individuals with awards of excellence.

 

 

 

 Sunday, September 21, will for a long time remain indelible in the minds of Ndigbo and their friends who came from far and near to celebrate Iriji Ndigbo 2025 with the Ezendigbo in Ijegun/Ijedodo communities, Lagos Eze Chika Nwokedi

Eze Ambassador Dr Chika C Nwokedi Eze Okpoko 1 and Okpoko 1 of Obodoukwu founder President Ndi Igbo buru otu association of Nigeria and former President Ladipo market mushin Lagos chairman council of Ndi Eze Igbo Lagos State the Son of the Late HRH Igwe A.O.U Nwokedi Eze Okpoko 1 of Okpoko well known for his philanthropist gesture, demonstrated his love for humanity by showering hundreds of gifts and awards worth millions of Naira to deserving guests to mark 2025 New Yam festival in Lagos State.

The event began with the giving of chieftaincy titles to deserving individuals, who have contributed immensely in various ways to humanity at his palace culminating in celebration of the New Yam festival at Igbo Buru Otu event center, Ijegun area of Lagos State.

So many dignitaries attended the epoch event including the President of Igbo Speaking Community, Lagos, Chief Sunday Udeh, members of Council of Ezendigbo, Igbo Speaking Community, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos, Eze Nwokedi’s Council members and members of Igbo Buru Otu Association founded by Nwokedi under the Chairmanship of Chief Sunny Akpaoyibo.

Also present at the event included the Managing Director of Ruzu Herbal products, Dr Robert Onyemaechi Uzu, Chairman of all Chairmen of Igbo Speaking Community and President General of Ndigbo in Alimosho, Chief Ben Obi, Igbo Speaking community youth leader, Chief Okechukwu Uzuegbunam, Chief Mike Ochuko, top Police officers and members of the press.

Eze Nwokedi, in his address, said that the New Yam festival is an age long cultural and traditional event as a mark of honour to thank God for the end of the harvest season and ask for His blessings in the next planting season.

He explained that this year, he chose to give different gifts and awards to so many in order to appreciate God for what He has done to him and the family as well as to touch many lives positively during the celebration.

Eze Nwokedi used the event to preach for peace in Lagos State and Nigeria and urged Ndigbo to respect the culture and tradition of the host communities and continue to support the Lagos State Government in all ramifications.

The Chairman of the occasion, Chief Sunny Akpaoyibo, in his opening remarks, noted that Ndigbo has the best culture typically the celebration of New Yam festival, which he described as unique and is being celebrated all over the world by Ndigbo.

He commended Eze Nwokedi for his passion and compassion to touch lives and humanity through his philanthropic gesture over the years. He called on other Igbo traditional leaders to emulate him while noting that Nwokedi has been an aggressive giver over the years.

The Chairman of Chairmen of the Igbo Speaking Community, Chief Obi, commended Eze Nwokedi for his efforts in touching lives and humanity. He noted that Nwokedi has a unique way of doing his things, and the aim has always been on what he will do to touch lives in society.

The Igbo Speaking Community Youth leader, Chief Uzuegbunam, noted that Nwokedi started giving so many years ago, has not relented, and was not ready to stop touching lives.

He advised other people, including the wealthy and Ndieze, to emulate Eze Nwokedi because what he is doing is using his position to show compassion and love to humanity.

The event witnessed the display of different Igbo cultural dances and masquerades, including lavish entertainment of guests with Igbo traditional music.
