Irate youths have attacked and damaged seven vehicles belonging to Benue Links Nigeria Limited along the Makurdi-Gboko road in Tarka Local Government, Benue State.
The incident occurred at Asunkunya, where protesting youths reportedly blocked the major highway and attacked vehicles belonging to the state-owned transport company.
The Information Officer of Benue Links, Johnson Ehi, confirmed the incident to our correspondent on the telephone.
According to him, the vehicles were attacked by some youths who blocked the road while protesting.
He said seven Benue Links vehicles were affected in the attack, adding that no passenger sustained injuries during the incident.

Ehi, however, disclosed that one of the company’s drivers was rough-handled by the protesting youths.
He said: “Our vehicles were attacked by some protesting youths who blocked the Makurdi-Gboko road at Asunkunya, Tarka Local Government Area of the state.”
The Benue Links official added that he was informed that the incident might be connected with an existing communal clash involving the Mbakor and Nongov communities in the area.
The development disrupted vehicular movement along the busy Makurdi-Gboko route, as the protesting youths reportedly blocked the highway.
Although no passenger was injured, the attack on the transport company’s vehicles has raised concerns over the safety of commuters and transport operators using the route.
As of the time of filing this report, details of the extent of damage to the vehicles and the cause of the reported communal dispute were yet to be ascertained.
