The Igbo Presidency Project (IPP) has named Bishop Chukwuma Egbim as its Enugu State Coordinator, in a move aimed at advancing its push for an Igbo president, through lawful and peaceful advocacy.

The appointment was announced by the National Coordinator of IPP,  Chinedu Nsofor, who described it as a “decisive and historic step” toward equity and inclusive national representation.

The IPP is an initiative of the Igbo Heroes and Icons Foundation.  Nsofor said the project seeks to produce a president of Igbo extraction in Nigeria, anchored on justice, unity, and democratic participation.

Bishop Egbim is an economist trained at the former University of Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife. The IPP cited his blend of academic background, community leadership, and advocacy experience as key to the appointment.

As Enugu State Coordinator, Bishop Egbim will lead grassroots mobilisation across all local government areas in the state. His mandate includes building alliances with traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth and women groups, professionals, and political stakeholders.

He is also tasked with coordinating advocacy campaigns through town halls, stakeholder meetings, and media engagements to promote the project’s agenda. The role covers setting up IPP structures at senatorial, local government, and ward levels, and serving as the project’s key voice in the state.

The coordinator will report to the national leadership and is expected to uphold values of integrity, inclusiveness, peaceful engagement, and respect for democratic processes.

Nsofor added that Enugu State, noted for its political consciousness, is expected to play a leading role in the movement under Egbim’s stewardship.

The IPP called on Nigerians across ethnic and religious lines to support the cause, describing the appointment as a statement of intent toward a more just and united Nigeria.
