The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) said it had deployed its vigilance group, the Eastern Security Network, to curb the incessant abduction of residents of Enugu State allegedly by herdsmen.
Spokesperson of the group, Emma Powerful, in a statement released to newsmen at the weekend said IPOB would no longer fold its hands and watch particularly the people of Eha Amufu community to be constantly abducted.
It recalled in statement that “the Fulani terrorist herdsmen kidnapped Mazi Ogechukwu Agu and Mazi Chukwuma Agu in Eha Mufu on 31st January 2024 in their farms. It said similar abductions had happened in Eze-Uvu, Ama-Obelebe and Abor.
“IPOB has drawn a line in the sand for the Fulani jihadist bandits operating as herdsmen in those areas.
IPOB will not spare any Fulani terrorists masquerading as herdsmen in those communities.
“IPOB leadership is ready now to deploy ESN operatives in those communities and others surrounding them.”
Powerful, however, advised the state governor, Peter Mba, not to allow the situation get out of hand.
“We wonder how Peter Mba would allow what happened two years ago between ESN and the Fulani genocidal jihadists in Enugu State to repeat itself.
“ESN should be ready to move into that place to stop the Fulani armed terrorist herdsmen,” Powerful stated.
