The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has denied one Nwaogu Ihechimere Ezeakolam, saying he was never a member.
In a statement, the group’s Spokesman, Comrade Emma Powerful, said IPOB doesn’t know the man, adding that, “he is not an IPOB officer, operative, representative or agent known to our command structure under the supreme leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.”
The Department of State Security (DSS) within the week, reported of the arraignment and remand at Kuje Correctional Centre of Nwaogu Ihechimere Ezeakolam, described as a retired DSS operative and an IPOB member; who provided moral assistance, posted supportive material, joined IPOB and advanced its cause.
Powerful stated that IPOB does not know the man, noting that, “whatever issues exist between him and his former employers are matters for them. The DSS must stop using IPOB’s name as a convenient label for its internal dramas.”

IPOB challenged the DSS to produce the evidence that this man is their member.
“Who recruited him? Into which family was he admitted? Who was his coordinator? What office did he occupy? To which command structure did he report? Who in the legitimate hierarchy communicated with him? When and where did he join?”
Powerful said “membership is not established merely because the DSS writes IPOB on a charge sheet.”
