IPOB debunks ESN as its armed military wing

Election countdown: Don’t sit at home, go out and vote, IPOB urges South East

From Stanley Uzoaru, Owerri

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has debunked the insinuations that the Eastern Security Network (ESN) is its arm affiliate.

Spokesman of the group, Emma Powerful, in a statement, yesterday, rather maintained that it was established to protect people of the South East from herdsmen ravaging their farmlands.

Powerful has also clarified that IPOB has no camps inside the forest, but staging posts at borders where it checks herdsmen.

He said: “ESN, founded by our leader, has no camps in the forests of Biafraland. What ESN has are strategically located staging posts at our borders, from which numerous armed incursions into Biafraland by killer herdsmen have been repelled on countless occasions.

“ESN is not the armed or military wing of IPOB, it solely exists to keep Biafrans safe from the ravages of terrorist killer herdsmen now plaguing Benue and Plateau states. Since the launch of ESN by our Supreme Leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the main objective of ensuring the safety of farmlands in the East has been largely  accomplished,” Powerful stated.
