The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on Friday accused politicians who do not want the Abia State governor, Alex Otti to succeed of being behind the killing of military officers at a checkpoint at Obikabia Junction, Aba Abia State on Thursday.
While condemning the attack, IPOB further alleged that the intention of the politicians was to create tension in the state.
Spokesman of the group, Emma Powerful, in a statement, denied involvement of IPOB in the attack on the military personnel, noting that “the sit-at-home was in honour of our fallen heroes and heroines and not to attack anybody.
“Therefore, anybody mentioning IPOB as responsible for the attack in Aba is under the control of something; IPOB has no chance to attack anyone, those responsible for this attack are politicians; they are planning to create problems in the peaceful Enyimba City. The governor of Abia State must be careful because these people are coming to create crisis in Aba.
“Those who attacked the military on duty are criminals; they are not IPOB members. We were much engaged with the sit-at-home to remember our fallen heroes and heroines, who died during the genocidal war against Biafrans and Ndigbo. IPOB condemns the criminal activities of yesterday.”
