… As Napoli backs out of race for Atalanta striker

Super Eagles striker, Ademola Lookman and Inter Milan continue to pursue each other in the summer transfer window.

The Nerazzurri have made a €40 million offer to Atalanta for the Anglo-Nigerian star, but this amount is considered insufficient by the Bergamo club, which is seeking an additional €10 million to facilitate his transfer. Initially, Viale della Liberazione management indicated it would not pursue the initial offer, but now seems open to increasing the proposal.

In the coming hours, a new offer from Inter might be presented, likely not significantly higher than the previous one.

According to Claudio Raimondi, a transfer market expert at SportMediaset, the Nerazzurri may raise their offer to around €42-43 million, which could be enough to finalize the deal.

The rationale behind this strategy is straightforward: Lookman, who is reluctant to remain at Atalanta, has a contract that runs until 2027.

Forcing him to stay could risk the club losing him next year for a much lower fee, likely around €25 to €30 million. Therefore, Inter aims to leverage this situation while negotiations between the parties continue.

Meanwhile, Napoli has backed out of the race to sign Atlanta’s Ademola Lookman after he rejected them and, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The club has instead identified Manchester City’s Grealish and Liverpool’s Chiesa, both of whom are expected to leave their respective clubs this summer.
