Inter Milan have reportedly informed Atalanta that they are no longer pursuing Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman.

According to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, the Nerazzurri no longer view acquiring Lookman as a priority and are instead focusing their efforts on strengthening their midfield.

Inter has been chasing the Nigerian international for nearly five weeks, and this transfer saga has become one of the more dramatic stories of the summer in Serie A.

The club made two offers for Lookman: first, they bid €40 million, and then they increased their offer to €45 million, including add-ons.

Meanwhile, Lookman has attempted to pressure Atalanta for a move, publicly demanding a transfer and skipping training sessions since the beginning of August.

However, Sky Sport Italia reports that Inter is finally looking to put an end to this transfer saga, as there has been no progress in signing Lookman for weeks.

The Nerazzurri now feel they have more pressing needs than acquiring a prominent forward and will redirect their focus toward bringing in a midfielder to provide better balance to the team.
