The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) has advised companies in Ogun to intensify surveillance on their drivers in order to stem the incessant accidents on the highways.

Mr Aliyu Yahaya, the Itori Unit Commander of FRSC, gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Ota, Ogun.

Yahaya said that companies need to monitor their drivers from the loading points to the various destinations.

“ There have been allegations by motorists that drivers hand over vehicles to motor boys after leaving the loading points,” he said.

He, however, said that intensive monitoring would check the excesses of drivers and restore sanity on the roads.

The unit commander also urged companies to put in place ‘a reward and sanction’ policy to encourage good conduct amongst drivers.

He said the policy would also ensure sanctions for defaulters who violate the company’s code of conduct.
