Movement for the Survival and Integrity of the Niger Delta (MOSIEND) has drummed support for the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (retd), in the fight against insurgency in the country.
The group’s president, Kennedy Tonjo West, in a statement yesterday, said President Bola Tinubu made the right choice in appointing Musa as defence minister, given his military background.
West said he joined millions of Nigerians at home and in the diaspora to congratulate Musa on his 58th birthday.
According to him, Musa’s life and career stand as a compelling testament to professionalism, courage, strategic brilliance, and unwavering patriotism.

He said that as a former Chief of Defence Staff of the Nigerian Armed Forces, he distinguished himself through decisive leadership, effective inter-agency coordination, and a results-driven approach to complex security challenges.
He observed that his tenure was marked by renewed operational synergy within the Armed Forces, improved morale, and a clear demonstration of bravery and resilience in theatres, where the defence of Nigeria’s unity and sovereignty demanded uncommon sacrifice. West, who stated that his appointment by Tinubu as Minister of Defence was neither incidental, nor political, but a deliberate choice anchored on proven expertise, deep institutional knowledge, and an enviable track record of results.
He described Musa as a bridge builder, a trailblazer, and a pan-Nigerian leader whose loyalty is to the flag and whose mission is the protection of every Nigerian, irrespective of region, faith, or background.
“MOSIEND expresses firm confidence that under his stewardship as Minister of Defence, Nigeria will steadily advance towards a future where citizens can sleep with both eyes closed, assured of a coordinated, professional, and responsive security architecture.
“His experience, strategic foresight, and calm command presence inspire hope that the nation’s security challenges will continue to be confronted with clarity, courage, and competence,” West said.
