Reacting to the national insecurity crisis, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has called on the army to deploy more troops to orientation camps across the country.
NYSC Governing Board Chairman Ambassador Fatima Abubakar made the appeal when she visited the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya, at his office in Abuja on Wednesday.
Abubakar, accompanied by the Director General of the scheme and other board members, said that the deployment of more soldiers to orientation camps is needed to protect the life and property of corps members.
While commending the Nigerian Army for its various anti-crime operations, the Director General said, as an organisation set up by the military, the scheme would continue to rely on the army for the protection and safety of corps members.
Welcoming the DG and her team to army headquarters, Gen Yahaya, who described the NYSC as a baby of the Nigerian Army, promised to provide maximum security for orientation camps nationwide.
