Nigerian leaders, including President Bola Tinubu, have been called upon to rise up to their given mandate of defending the security of lives and property of Nigerian citizens.

The Anglican Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Rt. Rev. Samuel Ike, who made the call in his 2025 Easter message, lamented that the increasing insecurity and bloodletting were compounding Nigeria’s challenges. Ike, who stressed that for any meaningful development to take place, governments across the country must rise and tackle the trend, also said that Nigeria needs servant-leaders who would see and take everybody and tribes as their own and sacrifice for their well being. He charged Nigerian leaders to rise up to their responsibilities, urging them to emulate Jesus Christ, who is the reason for the celebration of Easter.
