Super Eagles interim coach, Augustine Eguavoen may have bowed to the persistent calls to give new kid on the block, Innocent Godwin a look in.
It was gathered that though Eguavoen chose the proximity between Abuja and Lagos to watch the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) match, that decision was influenced by the persistent news that a local and League player could be answer to the central defensive problem of the Super Eagles.
With Olisa Ndah of Orlando Pirates out until next year, Godwin could present another opportunity for coach Eguavoen to test another partner for Captain William Trost-Ekong.
So, with Nasarawa United battling Abia Warriors at the Lafia Township Stadium last Wednesday, it was an opportunity for the Super Eagles gaffer to see firsthand the Benue State born regarded as the best defensive midfielder in the NPFL this season.
Godwin, who played for Yobe Dessert Stars, was discovered by Coach Imama Amapakabo from Mejelisa FC, a grassroots team in Benue State.
