FIFA President, Gianni Infantino, has sent a message to Lionel Messi following the Argentina captain’s retirement from international football.

Infantino shared a post on Instagram wishing Messi well and describing him as a football legend.

“Good luck, legend,” Infantino wrote.

The FIFA president also shared a photo of himself with Messi while holding the World Cup trophy.

Messi has spent much of his international career representing Argentina, winning the 2022 FIFA World Cup and other major honours with the national team.

“Congratulations, Messi, thank you very much! Argentine fans and Messi loyalists worldwide were incredibly emotional seeing you perform that timeless magic in the national team jersey for the last time! Good luck, legend,” Infantino wrote.

Messi, who has the highest appearance (208) for Argentina, will now focus on club football.
