From Gyang Bere, Jos

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Plateau Central Senatorial District, Ambassador Golkuna Yohanna Gotom has said the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) issued a certificate of return to APC candidate, Diket Plang who did not win the February 25 Senatorial elections.

Gotom disclosed this in an interview with journalists in Jos, he said that self-centred individuals robbed youths, women and the aged people, who queued under the sun and rain to exercise their franchise.

Gotom argued that he won the election squarely in Pankshin, Kanke, Bokkos and lost with about 3000 votes in Mangu only for APC to rig the election in Kanam Local Government Areas which took them several days to appear in the collation centre in Pankshin with the doctored, concocted and mutilated result sheets.

“I wonder how an election will take place on the 25 of February, 2023 and 9 weeks later only for INEC to come with fake document to say they want to reclaim votes that have been cancelled in a Federal Ward called Gagdi in Kanam Local Government Area.

“I contested election for Plateau Central Senatorial election and won in 4 local government with over 21,000 votes and Kanam will always wait to bring in fictitious votes to determine who wins the House of Representatives and the Senatorial elections.

“With the electronic system introduced by INEC, we have been able to go through the process and discover huge over-voting and mutilation of results, our evidence on the issues are very clear.”

Gotom questioned the credibility of INEC on the Plateau Central Senatorial election, where there was clear evidence of over-voting and mutilation of results with a petition properly filed by the PDP agent, seeking critical interrogation and examination of the results from Kanam but INEC went ahead and declared APC without looking into the petition.
