The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced plans to commence the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to eligible registered voters within the next three days.

INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, disclosed this during a strategic engagement meeting with journalists in Abuja.

The exercise is expected to cover Nigerians who recently completed voter registration, transferred their voting locations or applied for replacement of damaged PVCs.

The commission said the distribution is part of its preparations for the 2027 general elections and is aimed at ensuring that eligible voters have access to the necessary documents to participate in the electoral process.

Amupitan also said INEC was strengthening its use of technology to protect the integrity of voter cards.

According to him, measures are being implemented to ensure that stolen, lost or compromised PVCs cannot be exploited by unauthorised persons to interfere with the electoral process.

The INEC chairman further cautioned political parties and their supporters against disrupting the campaigns, rallies and other activities of rival parties ahead of the 2027 elections.

He urged political actors to respect the electoral process and allow other parties to conduct their lawful campaign activities without interference.
