Industry captains to explore impact of AI on insurance, pension at confab

The Commissioner for Insurance, National Insurance Commission (NAICOM), Mr. Sunday Thomas and other insurance experts in the country would explore the place of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the insurance and pension industry at the 2024 BusinessToday Annual Conference.

Slated for April 4 in Lagos with the theme, ‘The world of AI: How Insurance And Pension Sectors Can Explore Opportunities For Market Penetration’, the Chairman of NEM Insurance Plc, Tope Smart, would Chair the event while the keynote Speaker is the Chief Executive Officer, Cowry Asset Limited, Mr. Johnson Chukwu.

Targeted to drive insurance and pension to the grassroots, NAICOM Chief, Mr. Sunday, and PenCom boss Aisha Dahir-Umar, have given their consent to lead other professionals to discuss topical issues in the insurance and pension sectors, a statement from the Convener, Mrs. Nkechi Naeche-Esezobor, has affirmed.  Others in discourse are: Chairman Nigerian Insurers Association(NIA), Segun Omoshein; and President of Pension Fund Operators Association of Nigeria, (PenOp), Mr. Olumide Oyetan; Pension Guru & former Managing Director/CEO, Access Pension Fund Custodian Limited, Mrs. Idu Okwuosa- Okeahialami; and the Director General NIA, Mrs Yetunde Ilori.

Concerned stakeholders to share their views are: Lagos State Union of Pensioners; Nigerian Labour Congress (Lagos chapter); Contributory Pensioners Union of Nigeria (CPUN); Food, Beverage and Tobacco Senior Staff Association (FOBTOB); Insurance and Financial Institution Employees (NUBIFIE); ASSBIFFI, Ma People Living With Disability.

Others are: Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN); Trade Union Congress, (Lagos chapter); Students of insurance (Laspotech); Department of Actuarial Science & Insurance, University of Lagos, among others.
